I'm Too Lazy To Use the Pen Tool!
Which is like, all the time. So here’s what I usually do.
1. Shoot your subject against a solid, light background. Yes, Photoshop can do all sorts of amazing things but that doesn’t mean you have to rely on it all the time. Don’t think you can edit things out on Photoshop when you can easily remove those unnecessary elements during the shoot.

Hi. I'm so amazed by how you process your photos....
Hello. I usually use the pen tool to trace the edges of the object I want to extract from a photo, and then apply a mask.
If you’re using CS4, you can just use the select tool, apply a pixel mask, and refine the edges on the Mask Edge panel.
On my next post I’ll show you a technique I use from time to time when I’m feeling lazy to pen tool stuff.
